Since 2022, Resonance (at the intersection of JFK Promenade and Blue Heron Lake Dr.) has featured a public access piano for all to play. Whether you need a quick musical break while jogging by, or you’re looking to spend an afternoon jamming with others at the Community Music Hangout, this location is always ready to make musical magic!

In 2025 the amazing Illuminate Volunteers, led by local artist Rachel Znerold created 2 whimsical crosswalks in the style of piano keys. Come visit The Golden Mile and dance your way across!

2025 Piano: Irving

The 2025 piano located at Blue Heron Lake has been named in honor of the legendary Irving Berlin and was painted by our dedicated Illuminate volunteers.

2024 Piano: Fleetwood

Named in honor of Fleetwood Mac (who gave us the incomparable Stevie Nix) a beautiful heron mural was painted by Chris Granillo in March 2024.

2023 Piano: Carly

Proudly painted by artist Strider Patton, Carly (named to honor Carly Simon) became the founding site of the now legendary Community Music Hangout.

2022 Piano: Aretha

About the Artist (2024)

Chris Granillo is a California-based fine artist and printmaker with murals, paintings on canvas, and relief prints displayed publicly and in galleries. His desert upbringing inspired him to build a body of work based on the use of bold palettes of brilliant colors, which give his pieces deep contrasts, movement, and depth.

As a Californian artist of Mexican decent, Chris draws great inspiration from Mexican folkloric traditions depicting hummingbirds, native plants, and cultural traditions as a means to link modern day imagery to the past.
